Tracy says, “As soon as I saw this lovely driftwood piece I just knew I wanted to paint on it… but what to paint? Then it came to me, the shape of the tapering driftwood lent itself perfectly to the shape of a lighthouse. After sketching my initial idea, I painted in the basic design, finishing finer details with black and white gel pens. Once painted I knew I wanted to be able to hang the piece, so I drilled a hole and added the rope braiding. The hanging rope tails looked plain, so I stamped the compass from the Classics #1 stamp set twice and coloured with pencils, adding detail with gel pen. I then glued these two back to back over the end of one of the rope tails.”
