She says:

“When creating a mixed media piece, adding many layers helps to give the design lots of interest, texture and depth. Using just a few different shades of the same colour keeps the overall scheme cohesive and concentrates the eye on the texture.

Objects from around the home are always fun to use in your artwork to add markings and texture to your background. As I decided to use a circular canvas in this project, I have added circular markings (made using paint lids) to echo that circular shape.

When crafting a monochromatic mixed media piece, it’s important to take time to build up each layer. Each layer adds to the dimension and detail of the entire design.”
