She says:

I have always been fascinated by the incredible beauty of fossils and their link to the past, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before I incorporated them into my mixed media work!

I was thrilled to discover that a beautifully textured, solid but lightweight form could be moulded from a mixture of one part Powertex Universal Medium with two parts 3D sand. The coarse paste, when pushed into a mould and left to dry for a couple of days, creates stunningly realistic fossils forms.

After using the ammonite silicone moulds to create a vast supply of fossils, I just had to decide the best way to use them. I decided to start with a manageable 30cm x 30cm deep edged canvas and see where it led me. I hope that by following this project you will see that, just like the fossils themselves, the process was very organic.”
