Lou says,  “A lot of the time I get overwhelmed by product when I start to work. By using the Golden 14 pack, everything is much simpler. All the colours work together, the mediums are so interesting and create fantastic surfaces. It’s a chance to try many products in ‘try me’ sizes.”

Step-by-step… Follow Your Heart

1.Collect all materials together, paints, papers, substrates and mediums. Put on some music, or, like me, listen to an audio book!

2.Glue ripped music sheet to the tag, add texture paste through a stencil, dry, and then apply a light wash over with gesso.

3  Apply paint in small blocks using your fingertips, and allow the colour to blend.

4  Die cut the Tonic corner trellis dies and panels in card, then use them as a stencil to apply gesso to the tag in areas. Add script stamp to small areas using StaZon.

5  Apply crackle paste to the heart. When dry, paint with the magenta and yellow. Apply clear mark and then clear embossing powder and repeat 3 times. Repeat this on the trellis using teal embossing powder.

6  cut out and distress the music circle, the words, punch holes around the rectangle and stitch.

To finish the project: I wanted more contrast between the red and teal, so I painted the heart teal after it was embossed and wiped away the paint to get that contrast. When creating my composition, I laid all the elements on the tag before gluing. Using the rule of 3, I arranged the trellis over the tags opposite corners and on the stitched rectangle. I used teal and magenta paint on the words and parts of trellis, as this worked with the red threads. I then glued everything down, using foam tape on the heart to keep it level.
