She says: “The inspiration for this project came from a scrap of Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements fabric I couldn’t bear to throw away. An old pair of jeans provided the perfectly colour coordinated material to create some flowers on my garden inspired wall hanging”

Step-by-step… Fabric Based Mixed Media art

1 Fix the fabric to the mat board with Distress Collage Matte Medium using the Distress Collage brush. Once the surface is dry, pull the fabric tight around the back and apply Distress Collage Medium to hold in place.

2 Apply a light coat of White gesso using a brayer.

3 Apply Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide ink through the Lotza Dotz stencil using a mini round blending tool.

4 Clean the stencil, tap the Chipped Sapphire ink pad on to the back of the stencil, spritz lightly with water and tap randomly over the panel.

5 Apply Ranger Texture Paste through the Travelers’ Notes stencil to create the wording and leave to dry.

6 Repeat with the Lotza Dotz stencil.

7 Apply a coat of Distress Collage Medium over the section of the panel where you intend to stamp, this will prevent the fabric from absorbing the ink. When this is thoroughly dry, stamp the image with VersaMark ink and heat emboss with Ranger White embossing powder.

8 Apply Distress Collage Medium to the denim fabric, stamp the flowers with VersaFine Onyx Black ink, heat emboss with Ranger Clear embossing powder, fussy cut and add highlights with a Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen. Add black twine to create the stems.

9 Stamp the flower centers on to Idea-ology Plain Collage Paper with VersaFine Onyx Black and heat emboss as before. Add highlights, fussy cut and fix to the panel with Distress Collage Medium.

To finish the project: I added Idea-ology Chit Chat Stickers for the sentiment, and added punched out stars to finish.
