She says:

“When decorating a notebook or any item that is going to get a lot of use, the Distress Resist Spray technique using a stencil and the Idea-ology Collage Papers create the illusion of dimension without the bulk that comes from adding embellishments.”

Step-by-step… Distressed Notebook Cover

1 Trim Heavystock card to be slightly smaller than the front of the notebook and round corners. Place card in a suitable container and spritz Distress Resist Spray through Dotted stencil.

Tap Distress Oxide inks onto a craft mat and pull card through the ink. Dry, spritz with water and tap the card back into the ink to pick up remaining droplets.

Apply Black Soot Distress Oxide ink through the Dotted Mini stencil using a mini round blending tool.

Stamp script randomly on the card with VersaMark ink, sprinkle with white embossing powder and heat to set.

Trim the images from the Botanical Collage Paper and fix in place with Distress Collage Medium.

Stamp letters with Black Soot archival ink and Distress Oxides. Sprinkle the coloured letters with clear embossing powder and heat set.

Stamp the insect image from the Entomology set with Black Soot archival ink.

Add Idea-ology Tiny Text and Life Quotes Remnant Rubs.

Highlight the letters, circles and flowers with the Sakura White Gelly Roll Pen.

To finish the project:

To finish I inked the edges of the Heavystock panel with Black Soot archival ink, fixed to the notebook with Distress Collage Medium and added a Dylusions Creative Dyary Clip.
