Bird Hanging

Additional materials to those listed in the magazine...

  • Crafty Individuals stamp: CI-265 (birds)
  • Beads, eyelets and cotton thread
  • Inkssentials pen: white

INSTRUCTIONS:
A complete step-by-step tutorial for the sliding mechanism used in this piece can be found in the October 2010 issue.

This sliding mechanism can be used not just for cards but for other pieces of art as well, such as this wall hanging. This is a wide picture, but I trimmed the sliding strip at the top and bottom so that the visible part would be narrower.

Stamp one of the birds onto some sprayed card. Add an extra motif on the left. Cut out the window. Add white detail to eye and coloured pencil to body. Stamp a different bird on white card and colour with spray inks. Mount onto sliding strip. Add stops and sleeves. Add some loopy borders, eyelets and turquoise thread with beads to hang. Add a motif to the top and bottom of the slider. Layer onto turquoise card and a piece of mountboard.
