Handbags & Gladrags - Designer: Jo Preston

Here’s a fun card to co-ordinate with Jo’s Handbags & Gladrags project front the July 2010 Issue.

Materials…

  • Art Gone Wild stamps: Inky Antics Worldly Women  No 3
  • Deep Pink 12” x 12” cardstock
  • K & Co Speciality Papers: Berry Sweet
  • Coloured pencils or pens
  • Paper flowers
  • Sheer ribbon
  • Handbag charm
  • Flat-backed pearls
  • Nestabilities Dies: Circles; Scallop Circles
  • Glossy Accents

To create the shaped card base I used a tutorial on Split Coast Stampers
(www.splitcoastampers.com/resources/tutorials/trishuttercard/).  Stamp the woman image onto white card and colour her hair, face, legs and shoes.  Colour her lips in a deep red and cover with Glossy Accents to make them shiny.  Cut out the image removing the handbag part of the design as you go.  Stamp the woman again onto the patterned paper.  Cut the dress out and stick onto the base image.  Hang the handbag charm over her arm and secure in place with tape.  Add pearls for earrings and to the shoes.  Cut patterned paper to fit all the card panels, inking the edges.  Die cut a circle to fit the image and the matching scalloped circle in the base card colour.  Stick pearls around the scalloped circle.  Create a paper rose (see the February 2010 issue of the Craft Stamper for a tutorial).  Fold some sheer ribbon and attach underneath the rose.  Finally, stamp, mount and add your sentiment.
