A bonus card design to accompany Kate’s fabulous Insect-ology article in the May 2010 issue.

Hugs Card

Materials…

  • The Artistic Stamper: Insects and Butterflies plate
  • Crafty Individuals Miniatures book: Butterflies and Flowers 2
  • Old book pages
  • Offcut of vellum
  • Brown parcel paper
  • White card
  • Brown paint
  • Brilliance Ink: Moonlight White
  • Fancy paperclip
  • Small tag
  • Eyelet
  • Dymo and tape
  • String

Fold an A5 piece of card in half. Splatter the front with brown paint and set aside to dry. Tear lengthways down an old book page. Glue to one half of the card. Create a background by stamping insects in Moonlight White Brilliance Ink onto vellum. Cut a square from this and layer onto brown paper using tape in the centre and two opposite corners where it will be hidden by embellishments. Clip a fancy paper clip onto one corner to conceal the tape and mount the whole onto the card.

Cut an image from the Crafty Individuals book using fancy scissors. Adhere this to the centre of the vellum square. Mount a small tag on brown paper. Set an eyelet in the hole and thread string through. Add a greeting with Dymo. Adhere onto the card.
