Tree Ornament
For her feature in the November ’09 issue Helen actually created six items – here is a gorgeous tree ornament idea made with the same Tim Holtz stamp.
“I was experimenting here with the UTEE and alcohol inks. You have to work quickly to create the swirls, but I quite liked the effect.”

- Adirondack inkpads: Denim; Wild Plum
- Ranger Alcohol inks: Wild Plum; Pool
- Accent beads: turquoise; magenta
- Mountboard/chipboard square
- Silver Krylon pen
- Bamboo skewer
- Bells
- Silver jump rings
- Silver bouillon wire
- Coloured pencils
- Square of patterned paper
- Coordinating metallic eyelets
Stamp onto mountboard in black. Colour with Adirondack inkpads. Triple emboss with UTEE. Melt last layer again and add drops of alcohol inks. Quickly swirl with bamboo skewer. Add another layer and while hot add accent beads. Edge with Krylon pen. Cover back with stamped and coloured square of patterned paper. Add eyelets, wire and bells.
Designer tip… Watch out for your fingers as molten UTEE does get very hot.
