Here are a couple of extra ideas for creating jewellery from Tim Holtz Fragments. For step-by-step photo instructions for this technique along with top tips for stamping onto Fragments, check out the article Floral Fragments in the August ‘09 issue of Craft Stamper.

Floral Fragments
Designer: Katy Fox

Brooch

This brooch matches the items in the magazine article.
Materials...
Tim Holtz Fragments: Charms
Penny Black Delicate stamp
Penny Black Tiny Dragon stamp
Crafty Individuals: CI-017 (text stamp)
StazOn inkpad: Jet Black
Distress inkpad: Antique Linen
Brilliance inkpad: Pearlescent Beige
Cornflower blue acrylic paint
Gold acrylic paint
Distress Stickles: Antique Linen
Gel medium
Brooch pin
Flower charm
Three jump rings (antique copper)
Brooch pin
White card
Using the circular Fragment upside down, stamp with the Delicate image to one side. Add blue paint to the reverse, and when dry smear the reverse with Distress Stickles as for the items in the magazine. Stamp on the front of the Fragment with the Tiny Dragon stamp – this gives a lovely 3D effect as the Fragment is stamped on both the back and front.
Create a background by swiping some card with Distress Ink and overstamping with the text image. When the Fragment is dry, adhere it to the stamped background with gel medium. Cut away the excess card.
Add jump rings through the hole and attach the flower charm. Add a brooch pin to the back of the fragment so it can be worn.
For a step-by-step photo tutorial of this technique, see the August ’09 issue of Craft Stamper.

Bottle Cap Pendant

Here I have used the same technique with clear stamps rather than rubber. Technique Tuesday stamps are good quality polymer, and will give a good impression as they don’t have too much ‘give’ when pressed.
Materials...
As for brooch plus;
Tim Holtz Fragments: Ovals & Circles
Technique Tuesday Pocket Full of Posies stamp set
Bottle cap, squished
Stickles: Diamond
Pink acrylic paint
Three pink crystal beads
Jump rings
Head pins
Cord ends
Clasp
Brown cord
Crop-A-Dile
This necklace is made in a similar way as the bag charm in the magazine. Squash the bottle cap and colour with Krylon, then punch three holes. Stamp the small flower onto a Fragment with StazOn and colour with two shades of pink paint. When dry, smear with Stickles. Colour and stamp a piece of card as for the brooch, adhere to the back of the Fragment. Stick the Fragment into the bottle cap. Attach beads to the bottom and cord through the holes in the top.

Summery Pendant

Use black with vibrant colours for a striking effect!
Materials...
Crafty Individuals Crafty Elements stamp set: CI-235
Tim Holtz Fragments: Charms
Versamagic inks: Mango Madness; Pumpkin Spice; Red Brick
StazOn: Jet Black
Claudine Helmuth Matte Gel Medium
Krylon pen: Gold
Antique copper jump ring and chain
White card
This is a really quick variation of the idea presented in this month’s issue. Ink the white card with all three of the Versamagic inks, using the direct-to-paper method. Stamp one of the Crafty Individuals flourishes in black StazOn onto the Fragment. Using Gel Medium, stick the Fragment to the inked card. Leave to dry for a short while then trim with a sharp knife. Ink around the edge of the Fragment with a gold Krylon pen. Don’t forget to ink the back for a neat finish to the piece. Add to a length of chain.
