QUOTE: I’ve always been fascinated by dinosaurs, so when I saw these Archaic stamps I knew I simply had to have them. They are perfect for creating cards for boys or men, especially teamed with the matching papers and a bit of inking and distressing.

Designer: Katy Fox
DESCRIPTIVE: Katy shares some terrrrr-ific dinosaur-inspired makes!

Scrapbook Page

Materials...
BasicGrey Archaic stamps
BasicGrey Archaic 12x12 patterned paper: Rock; Primal; Timeworn; Earthworm; Prime
Distress inkpads: Peeled Paint; Walnut Stain
Distress Embossing Powder: Walnut Stain
Versamagic inkpad: Jumbo Java
Cut n’ Dry foam
Dark brown cardstock
Cream cardstock
Computer-generated title (the font I used is ‘Good Girl’)
The stamps were perfect for this photo of my other half in Jurassic Park, Orlando. Cut a mat of dark brown card slightly larger than your photo, stamp with the circle motif in Walnut Stain ink, distress the edges with scissors, then ink them. Ink the edges of the photo with Walnut Stain and stick to mat. Cut pieces of patterned paper for the layout as shown, distressing and inking the edges. Cut a jagged edge into one piece freehand with scissors. Stamp footprints along the pale piece up to the point at which you want your dinosaur to stand. Stick papers and photo in place.
Stamp foliage in Peeled Paint ink onto green paper, cut out and arrange around photo. Stamp dinosaur with Versamagic ink and emboss with Distress Embossing Powder, cut out and ink the edges lightly. Add over the foliage on 3D foam. Print out title and date, ink and distress the edges and add to layout with 3D foam.

Jurassic Landscape Card

Materials...
As for scrapbook page plus:
Basic Grey Archaic 6x6 paper pad
Distress inkpad: Broken China
Pale blue cardstock
Archival Ink: Coffee
Large paintbrush or stencil brush
Computer-generated greeting
The stripy paper reminded me of the striations in the earth inspiring me to create a paper-pieced Jurassic scene complete with smoking volcano!
Make a square card blank from dark brown card. Cut a square of blue card a little smaller than this, tear some strips of paper and stick them to the card with temporary adhesive. Stipple Broken China ink over using a large paintbrush or stencil brush. Remove strips. Stamp foliage about half way up using Coffee ink. Using 6x6 papers, create a paper-pieced landscape including hills and a volcano. Create plumes of smoke for the volcano by lightly swirling an inked piece of Cut n’ Dry foam. Stamp the foreground hill with more foliage.
Stamp and emboss the T-Rex using Distress powder. Cut out and lightly ink the edges. Add the dino and greeting on 3D pads. Stick the whole panel to the brown card blank.

Pop Up Card

Materials...
As for scrapbook page, plus:
Basic Grey Archaic 6x6 paper pad
Love, Elsie clear stamps: Riley (journaling block)
Archival Ink: Jet Black
A6 cream card blank
Computer-generated greeting
Randomly add areas of subtle colour to two pieces of the pale green paper, cut to just smaller than your card blank, with Peeled Paint ink and Cut n’ Dry. Edge with Walnut Stain ink.  Stamp one piece with foliage, wording and dino footprints. Stick to front of card blank.
Cut a piece of thin card to slightly smaller than A5, fold in half and cut two small slits in the folded edge. Bend this piece inwards to create a pop-up. Cover the bottom with pebble patterned paper, omitting the pop-up section. Stamp the second piece of inked green paper with foliage and stick to the top section. Cut a small scrap of green paper and stamp, then stick to the upright part of the pop-up section.
Stamp, distress-emboss, and cut out a T-Rex. Add to the pop-up area. Finish with a greeting and journaling block for writing a message. Add the pop-up panel to the inside of the A6 card, sticking just the edges to allow the card to open smoothly. See large photo for a view of the inside of the card.

You’re Tops Tag

Materials...
As for scrapbook page plus:
BasicGrey Archaic 6x6 papers
Dark orange cardstock scrap
Make a quick tag using leftover scraps. Make a mini card from orange card. Ink a scrap of the green paper and stamp with foliage. Stick to card. Tear a scrap of pebble paper, ink the edges and add to card. Stamp the Triceratops stamp, emboss with Distress Powder and cut out. Add to tag on 3D foam along with a printed greeting.

Tip...I love a cheesy title and there is so much scope with these stamps! Try out ‘Happy Birthday You Old Fossil’ or ‘You’re Terrrrrr-ific!’ along with those I have used here.
